What Dosho collects, why, and the choices you have about it — written to be read, not skimmed past.
01 Who we are
Dosho is a social app for live video and short videos (reels). People watch and host live streams and audio rooms, post and watch reels with music, chat, and send virtual gifts bought with an in-app coin balance. This policy covers the Dosho apps (iPhone, Android and web) and the backend services they connect to.

02 What we collect
We collect only what's needed to run the parts of the app you actually use.

03 Age & identity verification
Members who choose to verify, and hosts who request a payout of their earnings, may be asked to complete identity verification: a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie, both checked against your stated date of birth. This exists to keep the 18+ floor real, not just a checkbox.
04 Payments & coins
Members buy coins (through Apple's in-app purchase on iPhone, Google Play on Android, or Pesapal on the web) and use them to send gifts and for other in-app features. Hosts earn from the gifts they receive and can request a payout of their earnings to M-Pesa or PayPal. Only coins earned this way can be withdrawn. Dosho does not store your full card or mobile-money credentials — payment processing is handled by Apple, Google, Pesapal and PayPal, and Dosho only retains the transaction outcome (amount, coin quantity, status) needed to keep your wallet accurate.
05 Camera, photos & microphone
The app requests device permissions only where a feature genuinely needs them:
- Camera — capturing your verification selfie/ID, recording reels, and going live.
- Photo library — choosing profile photos or ID images, and saving media you've chosen to download.
- Microphone — audio in lives and audio rooms, and in the reels you record.
You can review or revoke any of these anytime in your device's Settings app. Revoking a permission simply disables the feature that depends on it.
07 Retention & deletion
We keep account and transaction data for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period afterward for legal, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes. Verification documents are retained only as long as needed to confirm eligibility and are deleted on a routine schedule once no longer required. You can request full account deletion at any time — see §8.
08 Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct information that's inaccurate.
- Delete your account and associated personal data, subject to records we're legally required to retain.

09 Security
Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Sensitive fields — verification documents, payment tokens — are encrypted in transit and at rest. No system is unbreakable; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you directly.
10 Age restriction
Dosho is strictly 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that an underage user has created an account, it will be removed along with associated data.
11 Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, notify you in-app before it takes effect.
